I opened my first Thrive Yoga studio in A'dam Zeeburg in 2012 and a second studio on IJburg in mid-2013 and a beautiful third studio in the Indische buurt in January 2016. Thrive and Yoga are more than ever an essential part of my life, the philosophy forms an important personal basis and it is with great pleasure that I share Yoga in my classes. In a yoga class, you can expect an active Vinyasa Flow, interspersed with deep relaxation in Yin poses. Inspired by Jivamukti Yoga and Yin Yoga, Asana (postures), Meditation, Philosophy, Music and Breathing are the pillars of my classes. But what I offer most of all is my full attention and enthusiasm which I share with love every class .
I first came into contact with yoga in 2005. At the time, I had a busy job as a naval officer and was looking for relaxation and a way to reduce my lower back pain. In 2008, I graduated from Nyenrode University and started working as a manager within the government and the business world. Over the past 10 years I discovered, step by step, what a meaningful way of life yoga is. This made me decide in 2012 to stop my ongoing career in the corporate world and to fully focus on yoga.
Meanwhile I am a widely trained (over 1,100 hours) certified teacher in different styles. Besides my initial Vinyasa Yoga training at Svaha Yoga (Patrick Vermeulen and Gosta van Dam (500 hrs)) I have practiced different styles of yoga in the Netherlands, India and Indonesia (Bali) and followed the Yin Yoga training at Yoga Garden (Anat Geiger (200 hrs)) and at the source of Yin Yoga 'Paul Grilley' (100 hrs USA). Perhaps my greatest inspiration comes from the Jivamukti Yoga style, where I trained in India with Sharon Gannon, David Life, Jules Febre and Lady Ruth.
I see yoga in our Western busy life as a wonderful tool to improve the quality of your even. Yoga has given me a strong impulse in how to show powerful and people-oriented leadership in my career. Yoga has also shaped me into who I am today as a human being. For me, yoga is the basis for a happy, harmonious and successful life, which I wish everyone else!
