Threshold to go back to your practice?
When I stepped foot over the threshold at Thrive Yoga last week, after 2 years, a smile immediately came to my face. I breathed in the wonderful aromas of the studio and was warmly welcomed by Marco. Once on the mat, I enjoyed the teacher's inspiring words, the connection with my fellow yogis and the meditative flow. It felt like coming home, as if I had never been away.
Before the corona, I could be found in the studio every week and almost nothing could stop me from going. So why did I wait so long to come back, I wondered? At the beginning of class Marco shared this saying: "Worrying does not take away tomorrow's troubles; it takes away today's Joy". During the shoulder pose, I realised that I had deprived myself of the joy I experience through the yoga classes by "worrying". My routine was broken, suddenly going back to the yoga studio was a big step out of my comfort zone and my head was thinking of all kinds of excuses not to go. A great pity, because my goodness, how I missed it!
Why am I sharing this experience? Because I'm sure I'm not the only one who experiences this, after all it's very human when something has gotten out of your routine to feel a threshold to return. The very same evening I signed up again for the weekly classes. Yoga brings me so much... I would like you to have it too! So don't postpone it any longer, book a class, you will thank yourself.
