Renske van Leeuwen is a yoga teacher who teaches Vinyasa within the Jivamukti Yoga method, as well as Yin and Yoga Nidra. After completing her first 200-hour Vinyasa training, she found her lineage in the Jivamukti tradition and continued her studies with a 75-hour training in Barcelona, followed by the 300-hour Jivamukti Teacher Training (Hybrid/UK). She continues to deepen her practice through ongoing study and personal practice.
Her path to yoga began at the age of 20, after her ADHD therapist advised her to start with yoga and mindfulness practices to support her overactive mind. What started as a way to slow down became a steady practice of attention, discipline, and self-inquiry. She is drawn to the Jivamukti method for its integrated approach, where asana, music, meditation, and philosophy form one practice. Yoga philosophy is something she returns to daily as a way to study her own mind, to make sense of life through change and instability, and it informs the way she lives and teaches.
Classes with Renske include spiritual teachings that are relevant both on and off the mat, clear verbal guidance and hands-on assists, mantra chanting, pranayama, meditation, and music as an integral part of the experience. Her teaching is direct and grounded, with a calm and supportive presence, balancing intensity with lightness. Her sequences are physically demanding, with an emphasis on steadiness, repetition, and rhythm. Grounded in the principle of sthira sukham asanam (steadiness and ease), she favors structure and endurance over constant variation.
For her, practicing yoga is not about performance or flexibility, but about building strength (physically and mentally) and focus. It is about being able to observe and stay with sensation, effort, and change, while remaining present and grounded through challenge. In that way, what is practiced on the mat becomes a way to meet life off the mat with more steadiness, resilience, and care. And when we can cultivate that within ourselves, it naturally ripples outward into the world around us, shaping the way we move, relate, and make more compassionate choices in life, contributing to a happier, kinder world.
Alongside her yoga work, Renske works as a director in the cultural sector and gives holistic massages.
