Frequently asked questions

Trial Classes

All classes are for beginners as well as more advanced participants. Check which style best suits your needs (read about yoga styles) or first make a choice between Yoga and Pilates. Calm yoga styles such as Hatha, Yin and Gentle Flow are fine to get your first yoga experience. Yin Yang Yoga is an intermediate form that goes towards the more fluid styles like Vinyasa and Jivamukti Yoga. We recommend trying out several classes , for example with a five rides intro cardto discover your favourite style, teacher and location.

Do you live (near) Amsterdam and have you never visited us before? You can sign up Sign up here for your first Trial Classes by choosing two Trial Classes in one week or five Trial Classes in one month.

Come a little early the first time (10-15 minutes before class) to be able to speak to the teacher before class and sign in. Nice to read: 10 tips to survive your first Yoga class (our blog courtesy of Holistik)

What do you want to achieve with your classes? Are you looking for a physical exercise to strengthen your core? Pilates can be a logical choice. Do you have back problems? Both Pilates and Yoga can help you. For the differences between the two, read on below Yoga vs. Pilates. Via this link you will find an explanation of the different forms of Yoga.

Classes are always personal by name. So if you buy two Trial Classes they are meant for you. The same goes for Class Cards and subscriptions.

First visit

You go to a yoga or pilates class in comfortable (sports) clothes. A short and a shirt are sufficient. Both yoga and Pilates are done barefoot. You can bring an extra jumper for the quiet moments.

Actually you only need to bring yourself. In the studio there are mats, blocks, blankets and other tools you need. Some participants bring a towel or water bottle for pilates class, but for yoga we recommend not to drink shortly before or during the class.

We have good quality mats in the studio, you clean them yourself after use. However, more and more participants take their own mat with them, which is of course allowed and this way you have a mat that is only used by you.

Classes at Thrive

You can book any class you like online with us and take it whenever and wherever you like. Each class card can be used in our three studios. Of course you can attend your favourite class every week, but at Thrive you can also vary. The classes are easy to book via our online schedule booking through us.

To book classes, you can choose to first buy a card and then use the online schedule to reserve your place in the class. You can also cancel up to two hours before the class via the schedule.

If you get stuck or want to read more about how to do it, follow this link; website operation. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us, WhatsApp or call us directly for a personal consultation.

Our groups are always small because that way we can guide everyone personally. On average we have eight participants in a class and a maximum of fourteen. Classes are given from three participants and of course evening and weekend classes are busier than daytime classes during the week.

The Pilates classes classes last 1 hour and most Yoga classes 75 minutes. The active yoga classes are a bit longer because they always include a meditation and a rest moment. We always take plenty of time between classes. After the class there is also time for a cup of tea.

A Yoga class usually starts with a short meditation and the sharing of something from the Yoga philosophy. Depending on the style, you then move into stretching or relaxation poses, or start warming up with 'sun salutations'. Then the teacher will guide you through a series of postures, either in flow or not. Each class ends with 'Savasana', a reclining relaxation pose, a short closing and a cup of tea.

We recommend to participate from 14 weeks onwards in the pregnancy yoga. The classes classes are especially focused on pregnancy. Before 14 weeks, it is important that you always inform the teacher in advance.

Further after your Trial Classes

After your try-out class you can choose for a Class Card (5 or 10x) or an ongoing subscription. If you want to come weekly or more often a subscription is cheaper than a ticket. Here you will find all our prices.

You can choose between five classes in two months or ten classes in three or six months. In case of illness or holiday, you can apply for a free extension while your card is still valid. If your card has unexpectedly expired without renewal, you can reactivate your classes for € 5 per class (within 1 year).

A monthly subscription is the cheapest way to take classes. You pay monthly with an automatic collection. After five months the subscription can be cancelled per month (at least two weeks before the end of the month). You can always pause a subscription per (calendar) month on request in case of illness, injury or holidays. Read more about our monthly subscriptions here.

We are a yoga school and want to be accessible to as many people as possible. So we would like to offer a personal discount if the situation requires it, for example if you are on welfare, a full-time student or single parent, or if you have a city card. In that case, please e-mail us your situation and possibilities and your wishes as to how often you would like to follow classes .

The studios are always open about 15 minutes before the class. When there are no classes, the studios are closed and you can contact us by WhatsApp, e-mail or telephone or by phone. During the classes, do not ring the bell or knock on the door, as this disrupts the class.
